I'm A Girl. I Like Girlie Things.

I am such a sucker for precious things.

While out running errands today, I came across two things I love. One of which I did not get, because it is only available online in the color I want...

J. Crew Drapey Sequin Tank Top

I intend to order this online. They only had it in pink and olive in the store. I think it will look amazing with a white button down blouse underneath... Sort of like a vest!

Also, imagine under a suit... And I have improvised the three-piece suit I am dying to have!

This morning I went to a farmers market with some fellow yoginis. But it wasn't just food there. I found a booth that sells precious gem jewelry. And seeing as I am a sucked for healing stones, I spent a good amount of time at it. I ended up walking away with this...

It's a necklace of polished agate stones. It is gorgeous. I love it. It will work well with the agate bracelet I bought earlier this month.

A Coffee Table Found.

I have the best husband.

This is a fact you must understand. And one you must accept. Because you can not deny it. I could go on an on with all the reasons why he is the best. But I will keep it brief here and only list the things he has done for me while I am away at Bikram Yoga teacher training.
  1. Fixed the TV system in the basement.
  2. Got a plumber in to finally fixed the main floor powder room sink.
  3. Had the water guy come out and turn off the back garden pipes for winter.
  4. Fixed the garage lights.
  5. Is (or so I am being told) keeping my plants alive.
  6. Finally called the security company to get the old security system the previous owners had on the house (which was going off all the time) overhauled.
  7. Found a coffee table to go in the guest suite.
Items 1 through 6 are huge accomplishments. They are all things that when BOTH of us were at the house, we kept putting off and getting side tracked from finishing. But I go out of town for a month, and he somehow finds the energy to get all this stuff done?

I am IMPRESSED!

A good number of these things require him taking time off from work to get them done. So it's even more impressive. Normally we switch off being home to get things done. I owe him just for these. But for Item number 7? I owe him BIG.

I have been looking for a coffee table for months. Months! I scoured shabby chic shops looking for the perfect glass coffee table to go with my Kennedy sofa in the seating area of the guest suite. But I couldn't find anything.

Well, The Husband gets bored one evening... Because I am not around... And ends up finding the perfect coffee table online.

This is exactly what I was looking for! You would think it would be easy to find. But there are a lot of shoddy versions out there. I plan on ordering it when I get back to Toronto.

I never knew The Husband was so organized! I should go out of town more often!

First Class Scheduled!!!

I am writing on this on both my blogs this week. I'm too excited not to!

I now have my first class scheduled! You know, the first Bikram Yoga class I will be teaching... It is scheduled for December 2nd at 8pm, at the studio I practice at in Toronto.

YAY!!!

I never thought when I started this yoga six years ago that I would actually become a teacher and teach it!

Total Hotness: Krrish.

It's been a long week here at Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. We were kept up late three of the nights this week. And by "late," I mean past 3am. And we had to get up for our morning yoga class that starts at 8:30am.

But it wasn't really as bad. We got to watch some more movies, which were pretty good. Bollywood movies. Bollywood movies starring my new favorite actor...

We have watched quite a few of his movies in the past five weeks. My favorite was Jodhaa Akbar. And I also really liked Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But I have to give credit to the one we watched Thursday night this week...

Here is one of the singing/dance sequences from it.

Bollywood movies tend to be about three and a half hours long. Their plots have diverse and confusing points. But they are almost always shot beautifully. So they are complete eye candy.

Especially when they star Hrithik Roshan in them.

SWOON!

A Training Gift To Myself?

We are nearly halfway through Bikram Yoga Teacher Training here in San Diego.

If you haven't been reading my Teacher Training blog, here is a quick summary of how things are going and where we are at:
  • Week 5 is about the start.
  • I have given recitations of 9 poses.
  • I still have about 15 to go.
  • I couldn't eat much the first week, but my appetite has come back.
  • Except when I need to stay up really late, I don't drink coffee.
  • I miss my husband like crazy.
  • Work got a little crazy a few weeks ago, even though I am here.
  • Some people have annoyed the crap out of me. But most people are incredibly wonderful.
  • This week will be crazy, as there will be late nights and movies.
  • We have done 43 Bikram yoga classes in 26 days.
After this week, it will pretty much be starting the countDOWN to when training ends. It is going by incredibly fast. I have to start thinking about asking if I can teach a few times a week at my home studio, if they have space for a new teacher.

AHH!!!

But, it's not all Bikram yoga hot sweaty dreams here... My mind is filled with other things too. Something I am dreaming of for finishing training...

The Balenciaga Giant Weekender in Mandarin.

I won't buy it. But I still love it. If training didn't cost so much, I could totally afford to reward myself with it at the end.

Agate Bracelet.

I went out to do laundry at a local laundromat in the University Heights neighborhood in here in San Diego... And came back with jewelry.

An agate and sterling silver bracelet!

I love it. And it is exactly what I need right now. Agate is a stone that helps with concentration and stamina. It also is said to have calming properties.

EXACTLY what I need in order to memorize my Bikram dialogue!

There was a coffee shop across from the laundromat. And when I popped in to get some coffee, one of the baristas had her jewelry out on the counter. She makes each of them, and sells them for a decent price.

I love this new bracelet. So perfect!

If I Were Going To The Tron Legacy Premiere...

This would so be what I would wear to it...

How AWE-SOME!

Though, of course, after paying for Bikram Yoga Teacher Training, I do not have the nearly $10k to spend on it.

Trader Joe's Vitamins.

I wish like hell we had a Trader Joe's in Toronto. I miss the one I had in Boston, now that I have been shopping each week at the one here in San Diego.

Cheap quality food... I love it here! I got all my favorite TJ things: juice boxes, seaweed crackers, wasabi peas, Kind Bars, avocados...

And dissolvable vitamins!

It has been reiterated to me how important it is that I make sure I am getting all my nutrients. (We had anatomy lectures this week at teacher training.)

Since I can't get my weekly B-12 injections while here in San Diego, it was recommended that I take a supplement. But I hate pills. And can't swallow them. So when I saw the dissolvable ones at TJ's with B-6 and Folic Acid, I thought, "SCORE!"

They're very tiny. And they taste like sharp cherry. But I am happy to have found something that works.

I really wish we had a TJ's in Toronto.

Starbucks Is Wasted On Me.

I knew this could happen. But I never wanted to consider it an actual possibility.

I am off coffee.

The past three Saturdays, I have gone to Starbucks to indulge in what used to be a daily habit for me. But each time, I took maybe five sips. Then I was done with my drink.

Here is what is left of last night's grande nonfat caramel machiatto...

I don't drink coffee during the week. Though I may try to starting in week five, because that is when things get crazy here at teacher training. (All nighters, so I hear.) And I picked up some of the Starbucks Via packets to test out for that.

But for now, I don't really have any interest in coffee. I apologize in advance for any drop in the stock price due to lost revenue.

Healthy Dish For The Weak: Hotel Room Rice.

Dear God,

Thank you for giving someone the brain power to invent rice cookers. They are amazing. With the $14 rice cooker I bought from Walmart, I was able to cook this for lunch in my hotel room...

Brown rice (not instant!), frozen roasted corn, avocado and gluten free soy sauce.

It was delicious.

Thanks God. You're okay.

XOXO,
The Missus
