Exquisitely Edited Existence.

I love purging and change.

Possibly too much.

Let's be real... If I didn't have the dog, I would have moved back to a big city already... And thought nothing of starting over with new furniture and new surroundings. I have otherwise cultivated a life that makes it possible to be almost anywhere at any time doing anything that I would like.

I mostly like staying in though. And long walks observing the world.

Tucson will always be a base of a home though. And in lieu of being able to pick up and change things, I like to purge or change something in my house every few months.

This month it was the closet and a couch.

I only own dark sweaters and various shades of blue button down dress shirts as tops.

Most things otherwise sit untouched. But I won't part with them. The bags. The shoes. The dresses.

I'm saving them for when I am an old lady and find my desire to dress up just leave the bedroom.

I replaced the couch in my library as well, as the one I ordered in September showed up this week.

It is the exact same style of the two I have in my front room. Only a different color. It is perfect for lounging on and working or having a beverage.

I tossed the other couch I had in there out on my curb Friday morning. By lunchtime a group of sorority girls who live in the neighborhood were ringing my doorbell inquiring about it.

"Are you getting rid of it? Can we take it?"

Absolutely, you can.

They were shocked I was throwing it out.

I had no interest in trying to sell it. It wasn't a comfortable piece. And I let them know that if no one had picked it up that I was going to call a junk removal service, which would cost me about $175 just to have them take it.

So they were doing me the favor.

They were giddy.

Even more giddy when I told them it was a Jonathan Adler "Baxter" loveseat that I had bought four years ago.

I wanted to tell them, "Just because it is designer doesn't mean it is comfortable or practical."

This is why I don't buy Louboutins or Manolo Blahniks anymore. Choos are my stiletto preference. I like to be able to walk.

I spent the weekend tidying and even did a yoga class. More purging.

And this afternoon, I am sitting on a daybed by my pool reading, writing, and cuddling with the dog while the Sun shines in the 81 degree weather.

This existence is lovely.
