Decided Against It.
I added it all up.
A commute of at least two hours in a car.
No direct route to the city where the job is located. (Many turns, roads that spontaneously change names and toll turnpikes required to get there.)
The purchase of a vehicle. (Around $30k)
The taxes and gas and insurance for the car (in the state of Massachusetts, lots of $$$$).
No hope of getting to yoga or the gym anytime except on the weekends.
All this combined adds up to a "Why bother even interviewing if the answer is going to be 'no' when the job is offered?"
Location, location, location people. It is important to your career happiness. If you're spending a quarter of your day commuting, is that a good quality of life? Is that enough to cancel out all the good things the job may offer?
You bet it is.
Damn!
