Food Porn: Salted Caramel Apple Pie.

I enjoy making food and taking pictures of it. This morning... I made a Salted Caramel Apple Pie.


I made it for Thanksgiving last year. This year I made it for someone to celebrate their Thanksgiving.  And because I really care, I used the really-really-really good butter in the crust...


My least favorite part of making apple pies is the peeling of all of the apples...


But I enjoyed having the perfect excuse to use my new zester...


And I also got to try out my new rolling pin and mat...


This recipe calls for making a batch of salted caramel sauce that you then pour over the apples...


I was more tactical with my apple slicing this time. And I layered them into the dish as fractal-y as I could.

And I was more precise than ever before with my lattice slicing...


I think these are the most even strips I've ever cut before!


The pie is now done and cooling.  Waiting to be delivered later today. I may be making another one of these later this week.  It smells too divine not to.
