Starbucks Soy Milk?

An uprising is about to take place, my friends... I can feel it.

See, I prefer to reserve any intake of dairy items I have to be for things that need it... Like cheese on my tacos or pizza. Or my Greek yogurt.  But my milk in lattes and ice cream? It's soy all the way, baby.  And up until about two weeks ago, I was LOVING my usual double-tall soy lattes from Starbucks.

That's right, I was. I no longer am loving them from Starbucks.  The soy milk now sucks ass.

I noticed it and dismissed it as just my taste buds changing.  If I added sweetener, it was suffer-able.

But then, I realized I wasn't the only one who noticed how much the soy milk was sucking ass lately.  Yummy noticed too. And when I was at Starbucks at one point this week, I say that the box from which they pour the soy milk was no longer blue... It was yellow.

WTF, Starbucks?

Have you changed it for good?  Or is this just a temporary filler?  If it is a permanent change, fuck you.

PLEASE BRING BACK MY ORGANIC SILK SOY MILK!!!!!  THE YELLOW BOX STUFF TASTES LIKE SHIT!

Starbucks is not a local business. Maybe not a particularly evil company, but still a mega-multi-national.

I do believe that someone around here once suggested patronizing local businesses.

"Everyone, shop the small businesses in town!!!!"

Interesting. I had my usual vanilla/caramel latte with soy last week and it didn't taste as good as it used to. Now I know why!
Oh dear god people I need my old soy milk!!!! Maybe the new president can do something about this national crisis? From what I have heard he can do anything!

Two days ago you said it hasn't tasted that bad. Why the change? Please, say it can't be a group mentality issue!? In reading your blog, your individualism always sounds very important to you.

I completely agree that the new Starbucks soy milk is awful! I have been drinking my soy lattes for nearly 7 years now and for the first time I didn't go to Starbucks on my way to work. Unless they bring it back ,they have lost my business!

I found this on the Silk website:

Starbucks has selected Silk as the ultimate in soy milk for its US retail locations. This new version of the much-loved soy milk is a formula exclusively created for Starbucks’ customers. When steamed, it makes Starbucks lattes and Tazo® Chai beverages even creamier and more tantalizing.

I am so releived that I am not the only one who thinks the new soy stinks! But on the bright side, I am now free from $5.00 coffee habit every day. The new soy is undrinkable.

Yes, Starbucks no longer uses the Silk brand. They have their own specially made brand now and it doesnt taste anything like Silk. It upsets my gut something awful and it doesnt taste the same. I can't drink dairy and so I was really enjoying the Soy Latte's but no longer. This new brand of theirs is probably not GMO free like Silk is. May be Organic but that's just a facade as far as I am concerned. Trying to make you feel better for what you don't know is in it.

I just found out the same thing about the soy milk at sbux, which I go to a least 2 times a day, the new stuff tastes like crap, leaves an after taste in your mouth and does not have as much of a vanilla flavor to it.I called sbux customer service and complained, and I also posted this complaint/idea on the sbux idea website, which everyone who feels the same way should comment on my post to make sure that the powers that be at sbux can see the amount of response to this post regarding the change in the soy milk.

I agree, and glad to hear I'm not the only one. They have lost my business till they bring back the Silk soy, the new soy tastes like crap. On the bright side it has forced me to kick my $4 daily habit. I still miss my tea misto with soy. Sad! :(

I called starbucks to complain and they said to post it there. They also made note of my phone call so I would suggest you do the same.

I am SO disapppointed with the new soy milk....that if they don't hcnage it back, they will loose me as a customer. It's ruining my coffee!

I used to get daily soy lattes as well, and sometimes two a day. I did this for well over three years.

Needless to say, since they've made the switch I've had TWO soy lattes from Starbucks. It has been months now.

The new soy is disgusting, and has a really bad aftertaste. I couldn't even finish the first one I tried, and the one I tried a month later to "give it one more chance" had the same result.

If anything, at least my money is supporting a local coffee shop instead. :P

The new soy milk is terrible. As much as I want to save $20 a week, I'd rather have my double tall soy latte back. Sign the petition, see if we can make a difference!

I live in Hanford California and we just got a new soy milk and it is the WORST taste ever. The soy milk makes the shots taste bitter and old in our drinks. PLEASE IF STARBUCKS READS THIS PLEASE CHANGE THE SOY MILK BACK OR WE WONT BE BACK. The staff is so nice but that is not enough to make up for a BAD DRINK.

Through some of my research about Silk's Organic Soy Milk. It looks like Silk may have changed their product and mislead their customers into believing they were drinking Organic Soy.

Starbucks new soy milk is certified USDA Organic and 100% GMO-free. As long as you believe what you read, it says it right on the big yellow box. :) It was designed to taste as close to the Silk as possible, but better for you, and cheaper as well.

I like it a lot! I like how its not as thick and grainy as other soymilk. Wish I could use it myself so I don't have to pay $4 for a soy chai

I know this is an old thread and post, but Silk, owned by Dean Foods now, did change their ingredients and soy beans, and also added stevia with sugar in their lite silk vanilla soymilk and it tastes terrible! They thought they could just switch ingredients around and we who had faithfully bought it for years would not notice. What are they, complete morons! Yes! And they lost my business as I will not buy any product they own, ever again! They can stuff it!
