Salon March Harris: A Review.
Left work early yesterday... (No one cared, in fact, my boss told me to. I LOVE not working at an agency!)
Anyway, I left work early and headed over to Salon Marc Harris on Newbury Street. i had never been there before, and didn't quite know what to expect. My experiences with salons on Newbury Street past Berkley have never been good. But I have had solidly positive experiences at the ones before Berkley. And Salon Marc Harris is between Arlington and Berkley. So it had promise before I stepped foot in the door.
But once I stepped in the door, the place went beyond expectations.
This is a great salon. It's located at 30 Newbury Street, on the third floor of the building. It's got a young feel to it and is decorated in the usual Newbury Street hip-ness all salons have in this area. But it felt more comfortable than most salons. It wasn't pretentious. And I loved that.
The stylist I saw was named Lauren. She did a fantastic job. (I think so, and even better, my husband thinks so. Because men never really notice when you change your hair. So if he noticed and liked it, you know it's good.)
I went in for a cut and single process color. Lauren first colored my hair, which took no time at all despite the thickness. She did a good job with minimal dripping past the front hair line. The color she chose for me was a deep chocolate brown, which is my natural color. (I've been coloring it black on my own for about a year now.)
After coloring, I received a free conditioning treatment; which they offer to first-time clients. Then Lauren began cutting. She was efficient. I could tell she is very comfortable working with hair. She thinned out the back and added layers, and she trimmed the bangs to sweep slightly to the right... Just the way I like it.
And it wasn't just the service of the salon that was fantastic. The price was amazing too. For the cut and the single process color, I only paid $96; before tip. That is an amazing price for a cut and a color on Newbury Street.
I give my experience at Salon Marc Harris a five out five skull and crossbones. (That's the best rating possible!) You should definitely give it a try the next time you need your locks cut.
