Hallelujah For The Dryer-Fixer Guy!

So, The Husband and I have been out of a dryer for about 10 months.

The dryer decided to stop drying clothes around February.  Things would go round and round in the dryer.  But nothing would get dry.  Things would comes out hot and wet.

It was almost like watching a porno.  Which I have never done myself.  But I've had plenty of guy friends who have told me about them.

In March, we called the Maytag repairman, and had him come check things out.  He told us it was a "ventilation and mold issue."  Air wasn't moving out of the dryer and up the hose coming out of the back...  And the hose and system appeared to be "moldy."

I told The Husband to tell the landlords in NYC.  I thought he had.

Well, since then, we have been drying things by rack.  And I only have two racks.  So laundry hasn't been an enjoyable chore for the past year.  It takes a long time to do a load between washing and drying.

I guess I could see it as, "We've been really environmentally friendly in 2008."  But you know what?  Eff that!

When I have no clean underthings to wear, and have to default to the hot pink ones I got for Christmas a few years back, just to make it through till I have clean dry ones again...  Well, that's a problem.  A problem that gets old after 10 months.

So I had The Husband message the landlords again... And ask them to look into the dryer issue.  They quickly sent out a carpenter to look at things.  And wouldn't you know it...

THEY FIXED IT!

They replaced a ventilation hose and vacuumed out the system of all debris.  And now we have a working dryer.  One that actually dries clothes that you put in it.

And it dries them within an hour of putting them in there!

It is a very fine day...  Now that we can actually wash and dry things within a few hours of each other.

TECHNOLOGY RULES!

There is just no possible way I could have gone without a dryer for 10 months. Yay for a working dryer!
