The Missus Says: "I Don't Want To Look Like A Tourist!"

Packing is a bi-atch, people!

As I've mentioned (probably a billion times), I leave for Europe tomorrow with my girl Frogger. (YAY!) And we both want to be fashionable while in Europe (aka, "Not look like complete tourists!"), but we insist on only bringing carry-on suitcases since we will be traveling by rail between cities.

Today's podcast is a glimpse into my experience packing for this trip...

(As always, please excuse the production quality!)

Yay you did it! Have a great time!

What a fun video!

Quick question though - what program do you use to make the podcast? And it sounds like you're recording your voice through an external microphone. Is that so? I've been tinkering around with video podcasting myself, but I haven't made much progress.

Have a blast in Europe!

LOL! Thanks Katie!

I actually don't use a mic... Though, there is one at the Apple store that I am toying with buying.

I just use the mic that comes in my Macbook, and I throw a blanket over my head and the laptop while recording my voice.

I know - it's total ghetto-style recording... But it gets me by for now.

As for the programs... I use Garageband to record the voiceover... And a digital camera and iMovie to put the images together and marry with sound.

After a few times playing with it, it was easy to use.

Hey, it may be ghetto, but it certainly is ghetto-fabulous!

I love it!

I can't believe you got everything into your carry-on! That was so much stuff! Last year I did a similar trip, except in reverse, Paris, Brussels, Bruges, and Amsterdam at the end. Bruges was the prettiest little place imaginable. Try and go on a canal ride if you can! have fun!

Friday Night Knitting Club = sappy and on the side of ridiculous. You should take backup reading material.

Have a blast!

Thanks for the tip Sarah! I will let Frogger know we should do that!

And thanks, Anonymous... I haven't heard much about this book or the writer, Katie Jacobs. I will bring an extra book because of your tip!!!

I think clothes and shoes are a dead give away to who the tourists (and Americans) are.

But I also notice that American tourists in particular speak louder and are a bit more impatient and have more of an attitude of entitlement.

Along with my flight cream, I try to pack lots of grace and a few nice words in the country's language (please, thank you, excuse me, etc).

Bon voyage!
