Neutrogena SPF 100? Does It Block Swine Flu?

NICE!

When we were in Key West, Frogger and I stopped into a drugstore to pick up sunscreen. We thought we could share, but we soon realized we each had different needs...

See, Frogger sticks with SPF 30. But I refuse to wear something that low if I can help it... I went fr the SPF 85. And she mocked me for it.

I am used to being mocked for my high-level sunscreen preferences. The Husband mocks me for it whenever we go to the Turks and Caicos. He refuses to wear anything over SPF 45.

But you know what? The high SPF shit works! Seriously, it works very well. It blocks EVERYTHING out. Skin cancer and wrinkles??? They ain't gonna happen to me wearing this stuff. And now, I have an even more intense SPF to chose when I go to the drug store...

Yes! SPF 100!!!

"Isn't that overkill?" you may be wondering.

I don't think so. I have seen what different parts of my legs look like by testing 45 and 85 side-by-side... The 85 side was REALLY white, while the 45 side had a hint of pink.

SPF 100 is so intense it will probably block out anything and everything...

Sun rays...

Kryptonite...

Swine Flu...

omg Missus I love intense sunscreen too, but I currently wear 60 I dont think we have higher in Canada you might wanna pick some up before you move!! wow 100+. clinical trials are what determines what spf it says on the bottle, and in those the person puts on way more sunscreen than the average person uses, so really we get less spf than the bottle says. so justified.

LOL! I will have to do that, Britt.

Where in Canada do you live?

HAH! I should probably invest in that stuff someday. I burn so quickly it is ridiculous. I sat outside for 30 minutes today at lunchtime to drink a smoothie and now I have a bright red tank-top-line sunburn on just one side of my body. Way to go, skin! I LOVE the sun but the sun HATES me!

What the hell do they put in that stuff?

You're right - when we're 80, I'm going to be complaining about my wrinkles and you'll have the skin of a woman in her 30s. But, I'll worry about that when I'm 80...

I feel thinner when I'm tan. I'm sticking with my 35.

I'm with you - I always get made fun of for my higher SPF preferences. The highest I've ever seen is 85 - I'm SO getting the 100! I also have very fair skin (like, I use umbrellas in the sun) and burn very easily - but I will still have beautiful wrinkle free skin when I'm an old lady.

i hadn't seen this yet! i'll have to pick some up before heading to NOLA, and DEFINTELY before heading to Costa Rica!

my boyfriend and friends all pick on me for wearing the SPF 85 - can't imagine what they say when I bust out the 100!

i have heard, but have no evidence to back this up, that once you get over 75 it doesnt make a difference.

I wear 85 anyway. Maybe ill check out 100. I just wonder, do you think you will be cold? maybe it will block out heat.

I use Neutrogenia SPF 85 but everytime they come out with something higher, I keep moving up the SPF scale. Skin cancer is just not worth it. Besides, how do I justify $30 on face moisturizer to then not protect my skin from cancer if possible?

"Hear hear!" Vanessa! I agree!!!

SPF 100 blocks the 99% of UVB. SPF 30 the 98%. Waste of money... And check the UVA too!!!

Celle, don't forget that SPF factor is also a ticking clock that allows you to stay in the sun a for a multiple of time longer than your skin can normally tolerate before burning. So, SPF 30 would let you stay in the sun for, say 5 times longer than it would normally take your unprotected skin to burn, whereas, 100 SPF would protect your from burning for about 20 times longer. UVA/UVB blocking is WHAT it does, SPF is HOW LONG it blocks...

I have such an issue when I hear supposed experts coming out and saying things like anything over (insert spf here)doesn't work. I have burned (and I mean actually burned not just pink) through as high as spf 85. I will actually blister through anything below 50. When the Neutrogena SPF 100 came out I bought it first thing. I can say with certainty that it really does work!!! I spent 6 weeks as a counselor at a summer camp and I used it religiously. Any time I forgot and had to borrow someone else's sunscreen I ended up burning. Needless to say I didn't end up with a tan, but at the same time I didn't spend the rest of my summer peeling skin! I will never go back to a lower SPF even though the cost is pretty high for such a small tube it is well worth the $$$!

I use Neutrogena's SPF 100 too! (Last year I used Neutrogena's SPF 70 spray). Msn said that anything above SPF 30 is a bunch of hogwash, but I spent money on it, and use it just in case. And I also stay inside mostly, and play my video games. :P Very good choice in product! :)
