"Where's The TV?"

So, The Husband and I are up in Canada this weekend for his university friend's wedding.

The town we are in is about 90 minutes north of Toronto. The place the wedding is at is a YMCA conference center/Summer camp.

Yes, you read that right. We are at a Summer camp. Staying in dorms. And even though our room has a private bathroom and a deck that looks out onto Lake Couchiching... I still am not liking the joint. THERE IS NO TV!!!

There is wireless, but it's painfully slow. And weather is quite cold up here.

I am so over weddings. But I just have to get through this one, and then the one in December in Australia... And then all will be good.

Here are some pictures I managed to take between my reading, Interneting and sleeping this afternoon...

Black Squirrel (Never seen one of these before. Didn't know they came in black.)

Rainbow (The end of it was behind an Indian casino nearby. Don't know if it was perhaps somehow manufactured by the casino.)

The view from our back deck.

DID I MENTION THERE'S NO TV AND THE HUSBAND DIDN'T BRING A BOOK????

Who has a wedding at the Y? If I could FedEx a book and TV I would.

I watch as much TV as the next person, but a weekend without, every now and then, is kind of refreshing. Except that the Sox are in the playoffs and there is a global financial crises under-way. Other than those things, it's refreshing. (Traveling without a book is kind of dumb though)

Hmm. No TV. Out in the woods. It's cold outside. Hmm. You two should pretend you're not married and be humping like bunnys.

Tsk! Tsk! This is a special day for your friends (apparently a misnomer) and they chose this spot for reasons of their own. This is obviously someplace you would not have chosen to be on your own and yet the Universe has decreed that you need this experience. Beautiful scenery, good companionship, the opportunity to develop other ways of entertaining yourself - embrace the moment!

Believe it or not... I actually don't watch much TV. TV I can actually live with out. (Internet, on the other hand, um... NO!)

It's The Husband who needs a TV.... And only because he didn't bring a book with him. So last night we were sitting in our room, while it was too cold out... And we were pretty much just staring at each other.

And the whole "Sex" thing only gets you about an hour... TOPS. The you're like, "Okay... What next?"

And we're not knocking our friends for choosing this place... It is special to them. In fact, out of the larger group of friends we circle with here, we're one of the few who actually came up. And that was very disappointing to me.

The groom went to many of their weddings... So for them to not come was a bummer.

I just wish there was a TV. The Husband and I don't do "outdoor" things when it's chilly out. We love to casually hike... But that's pretty much where I draw the line.

And to be honest... Nothing pisses me off more than when people say, "Oh! You should embrace being outdoors! Try something new!" Because... Um... Is anyone saying to the "outdoorsy" types, "Hey! You need to learn to enjoy sitting in a cafe and reading a fashion magazine or Barron's!" or "You really need to give sitting at home and catching a 'House' marathon on USA."

I do NOT think they are. So don't chide me for not being into the "outdoors" thing when no one chides them for not spending their weekends brunching, reading and coffee-sipping.

To each their own.

It's amazing how addicted we've become to the TV. I can't walk into my house without turning it on. Chaos is normalcy. Who the hell sells hammocks anyway?
