Beauty Fix: Dazzling Ballerina.
I don't pay much attention to my nails. Finger nails... Toe nails... Yeah, I haven't been one to really keep them up much in the past few years.
I used to go and get pedicures every other week about three years ago. Then I decided to skip going to the little nail boutiques on Newbury Street, Charles Street and Tremont Street.
I was creeped out by the idea of catching something after seeing a "sub-par" cleaning job on a foot bath tub right before I was to put my feet in it. I sucked it up and put my feet in it. Then the specialist pulled out the foot razor and began tickling my feet with it, attempting to chafe away the dead skin on my heels. (Nail salons are NOT supposed to use razors. It's illegal!)
I didn't speak up. Instead, I vowed never ever to go to these types of places again. I don't ever get manicures (because it's a waste of money on me, as I bang my nails around so much), and I either do the pedicures myself at home, or head over to a luxury nail spa and fork out a good chunk of change for a clean experience. (I only do the nail spa once or twice a year.)
So, seeing as I don't pay much attention to my nails, I rarely ever but nail polish. The last time I bought some was back in early 2007, when I picked up a dark sapphire color. I've worn it probably three times.
Mostly, I like red colors. And the last time I picked up a red color was back in 2005. I got Chanel's Pirate and Chanel's Vamp. I've had those two colors for early three years, and paint my toes with them every four weeks. (Yep, I only get around to changing my polish that often.)
So yesterday, while out with The Husband, I decided it was time to replace my sticky polishes. So I went to the Chanel counter at Saks and asked the guy behind the counter, "What's new?"
He attempted to talk me into the new Gold polish...
"It has actual 18-karat gold in it!" he informed me.
But I'm not really a "gold" person. And I found the color really tacky.
So I perused the more docile colors. And decided, since they didn't have my Pirate color anymore, to pick up two new ones... Ballerina and Dazzling.
I took the colors home and decided to test the rose-hued Dazzling on my fingertips (it's quicker than testing it on my toes)...
And I love the color!
I was shocked by home easily the varnish glided onto my nails. It made painting both hands very easy. And after nearly 24 hours, the color is still perfectly intact, even without a top coat.
I'm going to paint my toes with the Ballerina color later today. But I love Chanel's formula for polish.
