How Easily Offended Do You Get?

Just curious to know...

I'm not easily offended myself... Because what I get offended by passionately doesn't happen very often. And when I'm offended and angry, you'll know because I don't speak. I shut the hell up and pretty much say not one word to you. I usually walk away too. Because I don't want to explode on that person.

And when I'm super-duper angry, I hyper-ventilate and cry. And then get quiet. And walk away. (And no, I don't think there's anything wrong with crying. It's better to have me cry at you then rip your fucking face off.)

Stuff I find annoying but don't get offended by easily includes:
  • Every-day hassles... Like standing in lines. Waiting for trains.
  • Someone telling an off-color or sexist joke.
  • Stupid people you encounter who just don't know what they're talking about.
  • People who chew with their mouth open.
Stuff I DO get easily offended by includes:
  • Someone telling me what to do in a tone that is condescending. (FYI: I won't do what is asked.)
  • A racist joke.
  • Someone trying to control you by telling you you aren't doing a good job, even though you 100% are. (I call this one "verbal jujitsu.")
  • Being excluded. Blatantly. Purposely.
So, readers, what do you most easily get offended by? And on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest), how easily offended are you? (I rate mine at a 3...)

I get offended when people judge me by my gender. Nothing bothers me more than when someone admits their disappointment or complete lack of faith in me due to the fact that I have a va-jay-jay.

I get angry a lot due to little things like lines, idiot drivers, etc. But I really need to work on controlling that anger. Happy words!

I am probably a 2 or 3 on the easily offended scale. However, like you when I get offended, you will know it. Also, like you, I cannot STAND condescention. (did I spell that wrong?) I also get offended by those who assume it is OK to repeatedly advise me that I should quit my successful career to be a mother and that I will never be happy without children. Religious zealot whackjobs that try to push their beliefs on me also offend. That's about it.

I am easily offended by people who judge me by the lines under my eyes when heavily accented by mineral makeup. AKA - telling me "that under eye cream is for people in their 20's" when I AM in my 20's. Egh.

I also get offended by people who impose their organizing tactics on me. I'm organized just fine, thanks.

I could go on - but I won't.

offended: ditto on the racist jokes, especially by my family, who knows my feelings on that issue (offense level: 7). also, super offended (offense level: 10) when people question my judgment regarding my own life. angers me to NO END.

annoyed: LOTS of things, but mostly every other person who rides the T. like today, i LOST MY SHIT on the T because a woman NEEDED to walk from the back of the train to the door WHILE THE TRAIN WAS MOVING, because OBVIOUSLY she wouldn't be able to get off at her stop if she didn't, because NOBODY gets off at state street. NOBODY.

sorry...that is seriously my biggest pet peeve ever.

Things that offend me? When people are treated unfairly because of the color of their skin or their gender.

On the offended scale, I rank a 2-3. I am a person who just accepts that everyday events like waiting in line or traffic are part of life. There are things worth getting upset about, everyday inconveniences are not on that list.

I’m about a three. Things that ticked me off in my twenties don’t rile me as much as they do now (early 30’s). But clear-cut acts of ethnic or gender discrimination make my blood boil.

What’s really making me angry on a more constant level is the economic disparity in our country; the chasm between people who are doing extremely well and those that are just hanging on. It’s a leafy-left pain point, I know, but I am just amazed and upset by the huge numbers of people who are slipping through the cracks of our economy.

i'm a christian who has learned years ago that not everyone believes the way i do..i don't get easily offended, period.i don't mind it when someone has differing opinions or beliefs than mine because ,their beliefs don't change what i believe..but it sure seems that other people aren't as secure in their beliefs as i am..a person that's confident about what he or she believes doesn't get all fizzled when someone states a differing opinion..i believe that marriage is strictly meant to be between a man and a woman..many disagree and i understand.but they sure can't handle my opinion when it's stated!! in fact, they certainly believe i should quickly come to terms with their belief system!i believe that apartment complex curfews are a good thing..it's okay with me if someone disagrees..no biggy..but boy do many get peed when i state my opinion..do i get teed off when they verbalize theirs? never..no..i'm like okay, that's cool so we disagree,no problem..this is called free speech..this is called the right to agree to disagree(without getting ticked off)..i'm fine if you're an atheist..just don't get smart azz with me because i'm a christian.. if you claim to me verbally, that you believe i'm mentally unbalanced because i believe in a fairy tale god, that's a step beyond mere opinion as it goes into intimidation,,rudeness,,there's a difference in stating a mere difference of opinion and being insulting.and unfortunately,i find that most people when offering up their differences in opinion are usually, intentionally being intimidating.i can handle someone's differences in opinions or belief unless it crosses the line into rudeness.

i'm not easily offended, except under certain conditions
1.i get offended when people confuse preference with racism or discrimination.
dating or marrying within one's own race is preference
2.i'm offended by people that get insulted when someone verbally states the studied and reported fact that cities that are dominantly minority are higher in crime than cities that are not and consider such a belief or comment racism
3.i'm offended by people who attempt to verbally negate those studies are truth or legitimate even though they're proven.
4.i'm offended by people who bash someone (regardless of their race or color) for moving into whiter communities to escape high crime.(the action is often termed as 'white flight'.)
i'm offended at anyone who decides to re-define for themselves what racism and discrmination is apart from the legitimate definition put forth in the dictionary.btw, technically,a person that prefers blondes over bruntettes is being discrminatory in their choice, but it doesn't mean they hate brunettes.what we call discrimination and being discriminatory are two different things. bottom line is i'm offended by stupid people with an agenda
