Boston Sports Club Sucks.

Just talking to a friend of mine... And after talking to her, I am so glad I ditched Boston Sports Club last year for the greener pastures of Equinox.

My friend just tried to change her "home gym" location for BSC from Government Center to the Downtown Crossing location. The BSC person on the phone told her that it would cost her $39.99 to change her home.

Almost $40 just to relocate??? It's a simple click of a mouse in their system, and they want to charge a processing fee of $40???

That is crap!

As my friend said, "...It's almost so stupid it's funny... And because I absolutely REFUSE to give them any more cash, I am not changing gyms. I am riding out this ridiculous contract... And then going elsewhere."

Take note people: Beware of the shit-tastic Boston Sports Club gyms. If you're gonna pay loads of cash to a gym, at least have it be a nice, clean gym. And one where they aren't going to make you deal with this type of BS.

omg, I totally agree with you. When I lived there 5 years ago, the Sports Club LA had just opened. I would have joined except that I was moving less than a year from it's opening. I hated BSC. How the hell did they corner the market nearly completely???

I was at BSC tonight and two ellipticals weren't working AND I had to wait for a treadmill. I'm sorry but COME ON.

That's bullshit.

Bastards
Soaking
Cash
So glad I read this... I was actually considering switching from Healthworks which I'm bored with after 5 years. Also... they had my email address and have been including me on "sale" emails where they have like 50 other possible clients and can't figure out the BCC field. Bad business...

The only pro about BSC is that there are a lot of locations and if this works for you its kind of nice to be able to try out different spots. Other than that, they totally suck. Take it from me, I was a member and then I was even employed by the company for about a year. You think they treat their members like shit? Try working for them. They care about you even less than they care about the members!! I got a staph infection from being forced to clean the machines and the company did nothing to help me find medical assistance and/or insurance. In fact, they pretty much shut the door in my face about it and didn't even allow me time off to see a doctor. So don't take it out on the staff, unless they are management. That place is a corporate MONSTER and no one wearing blue or red has ANY power, trust me. They are probably as miserable as you are when you check in at the front, if not more so since most members are cruel to them because they think they have some control.its just the people in professional attire telling you you can't get out of your membership without paying another chunk of money who have any power....

I totally agree BSC Sucks! All they want is you $$$$ & Cash I might add???? Where does it go?

New club in March Check it out Latitude in Peabody.

Lynnfield BSC is the WORST! Pro's staff & management are rude& ignorant.

The club is dirty,& now the construction OMG!! DON'T Drink the coffee...same people cleaning also provide this service...where were their hands last?

Corporate must look the other way to allow all that is going on in these clubs. I say hit them where it hurts MEMBERSHIPS!!! DON'T JOIN,CANCEL,GO TO ANOTHER CLUB WHER YOU ARE WELCOMED &RESPECTED!

That's weird... I'm a member at the BSC and when I transfered home clubs I said please and thank you and they waived the $39 fee. Maybe your friend should try being nicer. I've been brining all my friends over from different clubs and they are loving it too... maybe your just at the wrong one.

the absolute worst club and the biggest friggin rip-off...toughest thing to leave because they've positioned themselves so well in terms of locations...guess that's why they can price gouge. what a concept, pick a great location and then bend people over! complete jerks...

DON'T JOIN BSC/TSI ... YOU'RE IN FOR A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!! Managemeent is poor... they made promised they didn't keep. High turn over of personnel. Personal trainers didn't show up on time or call in advance to notify me they were running late or couldn't make it (happened 3 times). Machines are often not working and were always dirty. When I moved outside the service area and notifed them of my intent to cancel via mail, they failed to respond or acknowledge as received. Dealing with this company has been a nightmare at every turn. Never again! Their moto should be 'CUSTOMER NO SERVICE'. They just don't get it and never will. This obviously comes from the top. They're people out for the bottom line at any cost. Shame on TSI.

You guys are all a big bunch of whiners! Boo hoo hoo....people like you are the ones that bitch about gyms sucking, but in reality you suck. I bet not one of you is in excellent shape! Real athletes don't bitch like this about a gym that is actually just fine. Get it together people! And by the way, what is it exactly that sucks so much? And here's an idea, why not tell us what they could do to make it better instead of just whining about obviously nothing!

Umm...Hi Anonymous... Were you not reading the post or the comments above?

Pay the fuck attention!

1. They make quitting ridiculously tough to do after you have been there the contracted amount of time.
2. The equipment is poorly taken care of, and often there are machines that are broken for WEEKS.
3. The front desk staff, while nice, are incredibly powerless to help customers. I REQUESTED INFORMATION ON PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS THREE TIMES IN PERSON, AND NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME.

Why don't you actually read the content on this post, rather than just Googling "Boston Sports Club," seeing my blog in the number three position, and leaving a nasty message with no context.
