Garden Of Eden Closed?

Thanks to a commenter on a previous post... They sent me the information that the Garden of Eden is now closed.

No really surprised, given my recent experience there. But, what does this say about the rest of the restaurant district? How are things going for them?

When I have my evening glass of wine, I will say a toast to the GoE.

A common conversation that I have when someone asks me where I live:

Me: South End.
Them: Oh cool. So many great restaurants.
Me: Yep, that is cool. But sometimes I don't want Hammersley's or even Pops or Sister Sola. Sometimes I just want a burrito or something quick, for $7, you know?

Sometimes I wish I lived in Davis Sq or Coolidge Corner. Right now the only informal places on Tremont are pizza/subs/bakeries, there's not much in the next tier up for cost/convenience. GOE was the closest thing we had.

So true... Other than Nicole's (on Tremont), there really isn't much in the way of "grab and go." And GoE was the place to go for a quick and cheaper-ish meal for the neighborhood.

There's still the Buttery and Francesca's though.
