Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork: The $52,000 Handbag.

I don't care for Louis Vuitton handbags.
It's not that I don't like that brand. I do. But it' s a very "posh" brand. And I can't pull off "posh." I am way too bohemian-preppy to do a polished look. And that's what Louis Vuitton handbags have always seemed to me.

And I often see LV handbags carried by the wrong types of people. While in NYC this weekend, I saw about a dozen people in the span of an hour carrying the same LV bag. And most of them were not dressed the part (in my opinion) to carry them. I'm talking track suits and a nice LV bag.

Those don't exactly go together. You can't be casual about accessorizing. If I am wearing a track suit, I would carry a much more casual bag.

My point with this rant is though that I do appreciate LV handbags. They have a style and a purpose... Except when they cost $52,000.

That's right. There's another Louis Vuitton limited edition handbag that costs more than the average American makes in a year. (They came out with one last year too.) And it is ass-ugly. Check it out...

According to this entry on WSJ's "The Wealth Report," the bag is "made up from 15 previously issued Louis Vuitton bags — all stitched together 'by hand.'"

Also, there are only 24 of these bags made in the entire world. And only four are available in the U.S.

But I don't care about the exclusivity of the bag. Or the rare materials used in it (some crocodile skin)... It's an ugly bag. It's not posh. And even if I had an extra $52,000 lying around in a big old pile in my apartment, I still wouldn't want this bag.

Would you?

I don't understand why that bag costs $52,000.

Unless the bag comes with $51,950 inside of it, I think it's pretty ridiculous.

It's an ugly bag... They justify the price by the materials they use... Which includes exotic animal skins and pieces from 15 other "uniqque" bags.

But in reality, it's crap. First of all, the bag is ugly. And second of all, it's made from recycled leathers. It's not like they pulled the skin of the crocodile directly when it came time to make the bag.

The most I have ever spent on a bag is $1,700. And it was totally worth it... And I use it every day.

But a bag for $52k??? That's "bunk."
