"There's No Airport In Delaware?"

Seriously?

I just found out that the great state of Delaware has no airport.

WTF?

I lived in Delaware for five years (believe me, I was not so thrilled to make the move at first, but it is where I met my husband, so I look back fondly on my time there), and I can attest that there is indeed a tiny, small airport - the New Castle County Airport. There are certainly no international flights (I don't even know if there are flights to/from Boston), but fortunately the Philadelphia airport is an easy 25 minute drive from Wilmington, and BWI is very close to the southern parts of Delaware. If you are taking a trip there, let me know if you need any recs!

Is BWI (Baltimore) airport not in Delaware?

BWI is in Baltimore, Maryland.

It's just funny... We were chatting here at work (since we work at a Travel site) about airports in the US. And someone mentioned that there is no airport (major one) in Delaware...

I could not understand how that was possible.. I mean, even Rhode Island has an airport... And it's the smallest state.
Poor little Delaware =) It's true that it often gets overlooked and lumped in with Pennsylvania and Maryland. Years ago in Dallas, TX I was chatting with a local and told her I was visiting from Delaware. She promptly asked me if that was out near El Paso! I don't think geography is taught the way it used to be =)

As a born and raised Delawarian (Dela-where?), I can tell you that it's only a 30 min drive from anywhere in northern DE to the Philadelphia airport. So, basically, you could get to the Philly airport from Delaware before a Manhattanite could get to LGA.
